I bought this as a VCR replacement. Much to my complete amazement, every time I tried to copy a movie from DirecTv I got a message saying that the information was copyrighted.

It never even occurred to me that one could not record off the air as everyone has done with VCR's for the last 25 years. I don't see how Sony can sell such a device.

Do NOT buy this if you want to record movies from cable or satellite! It simply will not do it!
