Sure it cost me a considerable amount of money and I had to wait in line for hours to get one, but once I got it home and plugged it in, it was well worth the wait. If you don't have a HDTV, don't bother reading further. I have seen them on regular TV's and it was a disaster; keep your PS2. If you have spent the extra money for a HDTV, you have to splurge on the Playstation3. Although XBox360 was released first and has it's devoted followers, PS3 is a superior product. It includes a BluRay player for goodness sakes. These players alone can cost nearly $1000. It's an all-in-one player to suit any gaming and video needs you may have.
As I mentioned earlier, it was not cheap. I purchased my PS3 on 1-1-07 and I stood in line for several hours to ensure that I got one. I spent over $1000 with games and HDMI cables and controllers to get everything I needed to make the experience what it was supposed to be. I was not disappointed and I still love the unit today. Games were limited for about 6 months, but the gaming companies got their releases out and you can play just about anything on PS3 you could on PS2 (oh yeah, you can still play PS2 games on the PS3 unit, without the advantage of HD of course).
The online experience is where you find the biggest advantage over the XBox360, IT's FREE. There is no PS3 Live to purchase, you simply hook into an internet source and go. Game play is only minimally effected by online play, but you can't beat the experience of playing online with people you've never met and having a good time playing the games you love.
