Nice Camera

This is the first video camera I purchased that used DVD to record on instead of VHS or Tape. The reason I bought this camera was to make it easier to have all my video's on one type of format and get rid of all those old VHS tapes piling up in the corner before the quality degrades so bad I won't be able to watch them. This is the camera if you are looking at having all your home movies on DVD and not have to mess with trying to convert your home movies on to DVD to watch them with your home DVD player.
Features: The camera comes with many features on it that you may not see on any other type of camera in the same category. It has Dolby 5.1 sound which makes the sounds so much clearer on the television instead of hearing the sound out of one speaker. It also has a 10x optical zoom which is above the normal for most cameras. Another great feature is it's able to take 4 megapixel still photos. Most digital cameras are around 2 megapixels. The still photos look great and I can take them while I'm recording or not. I also have the option of saving them on the 1gigabyte memory stick provided or on the DVD. The camera uses DVD-R, DVD+R, or DVD+RW which can record up to 60 minutes of video. I would recommend using the DVD-R since it seems to be the most compatible with home DVD players. The camera has a night shot feature and the standard steady shot option. It comes with some editing software to help you with putting all your home movies together with your computer. The large 3.5 inch view screen makes recording easier and many of the options are accessed through the touch screen menu. The battery supplied on average lasted about 60 minutes if I was using the view screen but I would recommend getting a second larger battery.
When all said and done this camera was easy to use and had many options on it I could not find on any other video camera that were useful. If you are looking for a video camera that uses a DVD to record to, I would recommend this one. I purchased it in June 2006 and have taken over 20 hours of video and hundreds of pictures with it and haven't had any problems with it.
