High Quality, Very Reasonable Price
Date of Review: Dec 30, 2007
The Bottom Line: Don't be fooled by the low price. This is a very powerful surround sound system, and a great buy for those on a budget.
I've been having this surround sound system for a full year now, and I'm very satisfied for the price I paid. I've always trusted Sony audio equipment, and this product definitely performs! I have it set up in my living room, which is roughly 16x14 feet, and I find the sound to be quite enjoyable for this size room.
I mainly use the surround sound when I'm listening to the radio, watching football games, and watching DVD's. The sound is so realistic I sometimes think the background noises are actual sounds in my home. All of the speakers, including the small satellite speakers are very powerful, and when positioned properly, they all produce a very balanced, clear and true-to-life sound.
The remote control is very easy to use, and I really enjoy the pre-configured settings, such as concert, jazz, etc. The unit even shows a lighted diagram of which speakers are used for each setting, which I find very helpful.
I also like the fact that the volume adjusts very gradually, so there's no rapid jumps to high volumes, which I fear could blow my speakers. Usually a volume setting of 35 to 40 is very comfortable. When I want to bump it up a notch, I find 50 to 60 to be very powerful and difficult to have a conversation over. I've never gone higher than that because I have nearby neighbors and I'm a courteous person.
