A Great Noise Canceler on the Airplane or in a Car

When I'm not playing baseball or working in the office, I enjoy to travel.  I love my hometown of Chicago, but getting away is always a fun time.  When traveling, usually airplane is the preferred choice when the trip is on the West Coast.  To help ease the pain of flying I thought that getting a pair of noise canceling headphones would help to tune out the airplane cabin noise. 

After searching around for some options, I found that Sony makes a good quality set the Sony MDR-NC6 Consumer Headphones.  The average price was around fourty dollars when I first went looking.  After about twenty minutes I found a pair for twenty dollars on http://www.ebay.com.  I immediately bought them.  Total for the purchase was about twenty-five dollars. 

When they arrived I immediately took them out of the package.  The headphones come with a carrying bag and require one AAA battery to work (Battery not included).  I inserted the battery and tested the headphones.  I was amazed at the quality of the headphones immediately.  The sound was better than some of the other ones in this class.  With my flight scheduled in a few days, I figured that would provide an adequate test.

When the flight started, it was loud in the cabin due to me sitting my the engine.  When we reached the predetermined altitude, I quickly switched on the heaphones.  Immediately it canceled out the constant rumble of the aircraft.  When I put on my MP3 player, the music didn't have to be loud at all.  I was able to quitely listen and not have to worry about the aircraft noise.  An amazing piece of equipment those headphones are. 

After the plane ride home, I had a road trip planned for a few days ahead.  With the success of the headphones in the plane, I thought that they would be able to easily handle the road rumble as well.  I was correct.  During the trip the headphones completely eliminated the road rumble and made the trip nice and easy.

Overall, these are definitely worth the money.  A super good buy!  No major downsides here.  The battery life is great!
