Great DVD player for road trips and more.

I had been researching portable DVD players for my 2 sons to have for long nights at sis's gymnastics practice. I wanted one that had a big enough screen for them and maybe a few others to view. This one came up for sale and I had been looking at it so I went ahead and got while on sale. They received this as a Christmas gift but wasn't too excited about it, however, now that they have been able to use it they love it.

The first time we used was Christmas morning on the way to grandma's which was right after they received it. We had not charged it at all. So I told them they couldn't use it but my determined children found that it came with a car charger and hooked it up. To my surprise it turned on. They put in a movie and watched it while it charged hooked up to the cars cigarette lighter.
Since then we have used it at the gym and in the car several times. It was easy enough for my kids to figure it out without me having to read the instructions. The remote control is nice but we have not found a real necessity for it. The swivel screen is Great, the kids love being able to move it however they want and makes it easier to hold in the car when others are watching it too.

The picture quality is great and has played back all our movies with no problems. The sound is a little low which can be good if you have kids that think they have to turn up the volume as loud as possible. It has forced them to be quiet while watching it so you can hear. On occasion I have plugged in my old cassette converter to it and it will play the sound through the cars radio. The player comes with 2 headphone jacks but no headphones. It also has an Audio and video input.

I love the battery life on this DVD player. It can last 6 hours before recharging. We have never ran out of battery before having a chance to recharge it I have been extremely happy with the battery life. With the car charger it is endless entertainment for long road trips.

When I bought the Sony dvp-fx810 I didn't think we would use it in the car that much so I didn't really care that it didn't have the ability to hook to the back of a headrest. I think it would be nice to have the headrest hookup.

One thing that can be a little confusing is opening it up. The button to open the DVD flap to put the DVD in is in the front and at first we would push that button thinking you had to to get it open but all you have to do is just pull it open. The "open" button is to put the DVD in.

So far it has been dropped and had drink spilt on it and it is still working great.
