sony trv-900 is great
Date of Review: Dec 15, 1999
I bought the sony trv-900 to make some videos and edit them on our computer and my experience with it has been great. Unlike the somewhat more professional canon xl-1, you can just turn it on and shoot your footage without assembling the microphone etc. It is very simple to use and can be directly connected to the computer with an i-link. The photo still are of good quality and one dv tape holds over 200 pictures, plus any frame of the video footage can be transfered to a floppy right on the camera with the included floppy drive attachment. It is priced far below the sony vx-1000 and canon xl-1 and though the quality of the pictures is probably slightly below those cameras the trv-900 is SO useful. I use it more BECAUSE it is so easy to use. If my son is acting goofy and i want to capture the moment i grab the camera. Pictures for ebay? no problem. Pictures to email? bingo. I have also made some professional quality videos of our horses at the racetrack. The camera seems perform much better when the lighting is adequate. i would definatly recommend this camera to anyone who wants to be able to edit their own footage and wants a very versatile camera/video camera. I would not recommend the wide angle or zoom attachment. They are not very useful. The wide-angle only crops the top/bottom of the picture giving the illusion of wide angle and the zoom is totally unecessary as the camera comes with really good zoom capabilities on its own.
