My experience with this camera comes from my job working for an electronics retailer. When this camera came out, we all went "Wow how cool." but after a few months and the new line of cameras came out, this one lost its appeal. There are some MAJOR drawbacks to this camera. The biggest is the fact that it uses minidisc as a recording medium, special video minidiscs that only last twenty minutes. And since this it the only camera to use minidisc, they are virtually impossible to find (my store doesn't carry them). Number two, the zoom on this camera is pathetic compared to the newer (lower priced) cameras, like the DCRTRV20. Number three, the photo mode is low resolution, only 640X480, compared to the 1152x864 of the DCRTRV20. Number three, you cannot get a longer battery. The one included with the camera is rated at 2 hours. Keep in mind that this is two hours if you are not using the LCD nor the zoom.
This camera does have some redeeming qualities. For one, you can rearrange all the scenes in any order right inside the camera. The touch screen LCD is also very cool. As far as the photo editting capabilities, its fun to play around with, but I doubt that I would every really use it.
