Give me a Sony every time.
Pros:
The wide view screen on the back is excellent.
Cons:
The technical support is far from user friendly.
The Bottom Line:
I would give a hearty recommendation. It is easy to use, gives great shots, and is compact.

Author's Review
I was looking a camera to replace one that my daughter dropped into Baltimore Harbor. I looked at several small cameras but decided on the Sony mainly due to the Memory Sticks. My old camera was a Sony also and I had several Memory Sticks that would fit a new model Sony. The DSC-W90 had all the features that a beginner like my daughter would like as well as a large viewing screen. Now, to be fair, my daughter is 9 years old and does not need an expensive camera - for obvious reasons like the Baltimore harbor incident. She wanted one that is easy to hold, compact, has features such as low light, video capability (for posting embarrasing things of Dad on YouTube, probably), and small enough to carry in a backpack onto school property.
This is not a camera that you will use to take professional quality pictures at a wedding or Bat Mitzvah. It is a perfect camera for the weekend photographer, the family photographer, or one for a daughter with ambitions of being the next Annie Liebowitz. A dad has to go with the child's dream, doesn't he?
Tiffy loves her new camera and has taken some excellent pictures of butterflies, sea turtles, and Dad while sleeping.
