Great point and shoot digital

A couple of years ago my office purchased a DSC-N1 which turned out to be a fabulous camera. My wife and I decided we should finally get a digital point and shoot so we didn't have to carry around our bulky Minolta SLR. The new DSC-N2 was out of our price range and we didn't care for the touch screen controls. The DSC-W90 though at half the price seemed to fit the bill.

So far all pictures taken have been just as good or better than what we've gotten from the N1 -- which means they actually rival the quality of the SLR for our purposes. Images are crisp and clear with good color. I'm never planning on doing any prints larger than 8x10 so the 8Megapixel is more than enough for that. I haven't made any prints from this camera yet but comparing images from the N1 (that we have printed) to images from this camera on our computer I have no doubt they will look just as good or better than those from the N1.

The charger that is included is not a rapid charger, but I would suggest instead of upgrading the charger to buy and extra battery if you go through batteries that fast. For about the same money you don't have to wait for a charge just swap batteries. Sony's ProDuo memory sticks can be pricey but there are aftermarket products that are just as good for 1/2 the price or less -- so that really isn't an issue.

Overall I would say this is a great camera. I have seen a couple of reviews floating around complaining of picture quality with visible pixels and/or grainy. My assumption is that those are the few "lemons" out there. Most of the reviews have been very good and the only time I have experienced any grain is with extreme low light with no flash.
