Mediocrity at its best
Pros:
nice graphics, decent controls, multiplayer,
Cons:
repetitive levels, to much loading, "been there done that" feeling
The Bottom Line:
I would say if you need an FPS for your PSP then get Coded Arms. It will help you get through the summer since not many games come out

Author's Review
When you look at Coded Arms don't be fooled by its gorgeous visuals. Just look at the enviroments they speak for themselves. What i mean is EVERYTHING LOOKS THE SAME. The saving grace is that its the only FPS for the PSP and its many weapons and multiplayer.
Graphics 8/10:
Hands down some of the best graphics for the PSP. It shows what the PSP can really do, but this also means the battery life suffers. Now the graphics and gun models are done pretty well but everything still looks identical. Weather your in the ruins or city or other levels, it looks the same. Theres some detail, but not enough to destingquish one stage from another.
Sound 6/10:
The sound in Coded arms is superb but its puts you in the feeling of the game. It makes you feel like a hacker but it gets old and repetitive. Its the same rock style music over and over again. Its just not intresting.
Controls 7/10:
Now the controls for Coded arms are decent given that the PSP only has one analog stick. Your given 4 controler types ; the defult has you moving with the analog stick and shooting with the R button, jumping with the L button, and using the X, O, square, and triangle buttons to look around. To reload you press the down on the d-pad, and up switches to zoom while left and right switch weapons. Now that is just one setting, theres 4 plus you can customize your own control scheme. Plus theres auto-aim to help you in the game.
Gameplay 6/10:
Lets talk about the story of Coded Arms, but wait errr.. there really isnt one. The flimsy story is that you have this program the the government shut down because of malfunctions or something. So now all the hackers want to get this program and beat it basically. Yes thats the story, bland and unintresting so it fits with the game. This is how the game goes; after training you go into one of three areas, ruins, city or base. And there are a certain number of portals in every level. In the first set of 3 theres 6 then theres 13 and so on. The only problem is that every time you enter a new portal theres another load screen so you are constanly loading, and the areas dont really get bigger until later in the game.
On to the weapons. I havent unlocked every weapon, but ive heard theres about 30. There are a lot of weapons from napalm launcher to a shotgun to a pistol. The gun models are nicely done and you can upgrade your weapons to make the more powerful. The problem with all these guns is that you need seperate ammo for each gun so if you need to use something and you dont have any ammo for it you might not get anything for a while. Also you can go through ammo rather quickly with many guns.
The multiplayer is fun cause your playing with real ppl and you get a good amount of weapons and levels. Plus its better then the dumb computer AI that just keeps jumping for no reason.
Overall the singel player isnt great but it will last you a while and its something to do. There are moments and it can be fun but be prepared for long load times. There are many enemies and they all have their own attacks. The variety is nice especially when every level looks the same but all the enemies pretty much do the same thing: shoot you. There some times where the room will lock down and you need to eliminate all the enemies or youll have 3 minutes to finish a level. Plus the levels are randomly generated so you have some replay.
