With sony's creation of the TR818 ,sony has stepped up the bar for excellence for camcorders under 300 dollars. The Color CCD (.25 inches) has and extreamly high quality. With a range of 460X zoom you can make distant details come alive. Another fantastic detail on this camcorder is the ability to film in complete darkness. This feature is called night shot. Yet another incredible detail on this camcorder is the battery lift. When equipped with a extension L series battery, this camcorder can run for well over 3 hours. The ingenious switchover from regular VHS tape to Hi8 tapes is just another feature that makes this camcorder in best in its class. Essentially, Hi8 creates a much clearer picture and better zoom quailty (a must for this awesome camcorder). On the CCD side of the camcorder it has a small screen that shows how much battery life you have left and how much time you have recorded, yet another ingenious invention by the fine people in the sony devlopment department.
