A good value... UPDATED.

Let me begin by saying I am not a technophile...just a plain old couch potato!
I had been researching 40" & 42" LCDs for months, and when I saw the Sony KDL40W3000 marked down to $1399 at Sears' "Black Friday" sale, I felt pressured to get it right then and there as the sale price was only valid until noon.
When I first hooked up the set, I wondered if I had made a bad choice. The picture was so-so, with lots of pixelation around any text. I spent a lot of time trying to make adjustments, which helped a bit but I was still wary. THEN Directv came and hooked up my HD Receiver...WHAT A DIFFERENCE! This was my first Full-HD TV, so I didn't realize that the picture problems were actually the result of standard definition broadcast. The picture is beautiful, and I love the non-glare screen.
The actual tv set looks great...frame is matte finish, so no distracting glare like most Samsung LCDs.
I had also considered the Samsung LNT4071F (but didn't want to wait for the price do go down) as well as the Sharp Aquos (but the sound quality didn't seem as good as the Sony).
