I had been looking for and MP3 player that I could run and workout with for quite some time. After doing enough research, I decided to purchase the Rio Cali Sport 128MB, so I bought the player from WalMart for about $130.
The Rio Cali comes with a plastic carrying case with a metal clip, and armband to clip the player to, sport clip earphones,1 AAA battery, a USB cable, instructions, and the Rio Music Manager software disk. The player has 128MB storage space which is about 40-60 songs at 64kbs of WMA which is plenty for me since I use it mainly for working out. Of course, the player does have and expansion slot allowing you to add up to 1GB of additional memory using SD or MMC memory cards. The armband is a velco strap, which can be adjusted to fit your arm, and is perfect for running and working out. The only drawback is the sport clip earphones that come with the player. They are awkward fitting and come loose all the time while jogging. I would recommend buying a higher quality set of headphones.
Transferring music to the software is simple with Rio Music Manager. The software is very user friendly and has a good interface. The software allows you to copy your CD collection onto your computer at whatever bitrate you want and you can drag and drop the files onto your player while it's connected to your computer with the USB cable.
The sound quality of the Rio Cali is very impressive. The music sounds good even when the bitrate is at 64kbs WMA. You can adjust the sound to your liking easily with the 5-Band equalizer(which also has pre-sets like Rock, Jazz, etc.). Everything on the player is easy to reach even when it's clipped onto the armband. Changing tracks on the player is very well managed with a simple joystick on the player. The joystick allows you to play, pause, forward, or reverse the tracks and the display tells you everything you need to know about the current track. The player also has a FM tuner and a stopwatch but I never really use them.
I have been using this player for about 3 months and I have had a great experience with it.It is very durable(I have dropped it a few times and it stills looks and works fine) and easy to use.The battery life is about 15 hours which is about 3 hours less than what the box says but it's ok because it's only takes 1 AAA battery.
