DX, maybe... Director's Cut... not even close
Pros:
Updated graphics, Sonic is hella fun, all Sonic Game Gear games, soundtrack from the Gods
Cons:
Still glitchy like DC ver., Big sucks, lazy water
The Bottom Line:
If you're a fan of the original Sonic Adventure and have no access to it, get it. Otherwise, avoid.

Author's Review
Intro:
I'd first like to say that I loved the original Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast. I'm not sure why it hooked me so bad back in the day since I can also see why everyone else seemed to hate it. But I remain a dedicated Sonic fan even through his slumps. Which is why I went to buy this game soon after it came out.
The Good:
First of all, this is Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast. In my eyes, this is good. Sonic's stages were bliss for the most part. Tail's were equally as fun. Knuckles' were a nice change of pace. Amy's were different and actually fun. Big's stages... well... that goes in The Bad section. E-102 Gamma's stages were different and interesting too but a little slow. The secret character at the end friggin' rules too. The music friggin' rules. And I'm done doing one sentence things. Basically, if you're a dedicated and picky Sonic fan, just play Sonic and Tails' stages because they're almost Sonic perfection in 3D. Everyone else is different. Game Gear games also add a nice incentive to unlock all the Emblems. They've also improved the graphics slightly in this game. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy have all had their poly count upped and every character now has a nice coat of shine on them. The 4 I mentioned above have evolved into next-gen models, while the other 2 are left in the dust of 1st-generation Dreamcast graphics. Edit: I almost forgot to mention the great soundtrack this game has. The lyrics are pretty lame and boring, but the composition is top-notch. It's a little over-the-top, but I like it.
The Bad:
If you didn't like the original Sonic Adventure then there's nothing here that will change your mind. This is basically the same game that dissappointed slightly but still entertained us in 1999, only it hasn't aged too well. Too many glitches and botched physics hurt this game a bit. Invisible walls don't help much either. Not to mention they failed to nix Big's game from the package completely. Too put it as nicely as possible, Big is the spawn of Satan. That was actually a little too nice. Big's game practically ruins the whole game. It sucks. It blows. It's just plain crappy from ugly beginning to agonizing end. I can't emphasize how much it sucks to fish with a screwed up fishing system after a frog who's harder to catch then the big fish. And do this every stage for 5 stages. Not to mention his story sucks and ugh. I'm done because I'll just end up smashing the computer screen thinking about Big the Cat. He's not a bad character design but his whole game sucks. The "upgraded water" is pretty friggin' lazy. They did some little wavy effect that affects your character just because they're covering the water from whatever angle you're viewing it. They could have at least just copied the water from Super Monkey Ball 2 and past it in so you could have uber-water. Ah well. Not to mention Director's Cut is exaggerating a LOT. Director's Cut hints that it adds some things that were cut out of the original product, but this has NONE of that. Short of the Game Gear games and forgettable mission mode, there's nothing here to warrant that title. They could've just called it Sonic Adventure DX Deluxe Edition and it would've at least not overexaggerated that much.
