Smallville: Ready to Escape Reality?
Pros:
One of the best shows on TV! Great quality DVD!
Cons:
Not all the content is visible using just your home DVD player...
The Bottom Line:
My favorite show on television. The acting and intriguing storyline is more then enough to occupy your life for a while in a positive way.

Author's Review
Smallville, in my opinion one of the best television shows ever made.
Reasoning behind my theory:
The show itself is, in lack of a better word, cool. We have seen Superman movies and other shows based on Superman for years now, but never a version that could really gear to the young demographic. Teenagers and young adults scream for shows that are at least slightly based on reality. That is Smallville...just a little more to it.
Basic Plot:
Picture Superman growing up...there you go. That is the basic plot. It's Clark Kent growing up in a farm community called Smallville that was ravaged by a meteor shower. Because of this meteor shower, everything in this once corn based community is now a breading ground for the strange and weird.
As everyone can remember, growing up is an exciting, confusing, and ultimately weird part of life. Think of how Superman had to do it. Picture yourself one day waking up to floating over your bed, or strength that is unmatched...and hey, you miss the bus...you can beat it no problem. That is just a few of the attributes that Clark Kent encounters throughout the first season of Smallville.
The Cast:
Tom Welling plays Clark Kent. Tom Welling is not just a pretty face and a perfect body, as some women would lead you to believe. He is also the perfect person to play the part of Clark Kent. He just has that look that essence that as you watch the show, you just know he is bound for greatness. If you are wondering where you have seen him before, it was most likely on his first feature film Cheaper by the Dozen.
Michael Rosenbaum is doing a great job portraying Lex Luthor. You kind of feel like he may just come out of this show not being the bad guy...but you also have your droughts...maybe he will turn out as bad as we know him. He has also played in movies such as Urban Legends and Sorority Girls.
Kristin Kreuk plays Lana Lang, Clark Kent's love interest as a young man, and does it to perfection. There is just something about her...wow. She was originally the reason I started watching the show, but it was no longer just a pretty face to look at but a great acting talent as well. You can recognize her for the 10 minutes she was in the movie Euro Trip.
DVD:
The DVDs themselves are decent. They have some commentary tracks for the first episode and some neat storyboard features. However, its only on select disks and to get some of the content, you actually have to use your computer. I for one have always hated when DVD makers do that...what if someone doesn't for some reason have a computer DVD drive? They are not privy to the same content as the non-computer users?
Quality is great, picture great, menus nice.
MY TWO CENTS:
Get it for someone or yourself. It's a great addition to anyone's DVD library and a show you can watch episodes over and over. Get season 1 because the other seasons have either all ready been released or will be soon. Don't you want to know how it all started? Grab this one today!
