Infantino Not Suitable For Hot Climates
Date of Review: Oct 11, 2005
The Bottom Line: There are better slings on the market.
We purchased an Infantino Sling Rider when our baby was 4 weeks old. We were looking for a sling carrier to use to calm her during fussy periods at night and enable us to have our hands free to do things around the house.
The sling was ideal in the beginning when it was cooler weather. Our baby was quite content in the sling and usually went to sleep quickly. She did, however, seem to be in a crumpled position with her head tucked in and it seemed to cause noisy breathing when lying at such an angle.
My husband found the sling reasonably comfortable to wear for extended periods but I found it uncomfortable after about 20 minutes as it pulled my shoulders forward, (I am only 5 feet tall so maybe it didn't fit me properly).
The sling also has a harness inside which at first we liked as it held the baby in position and meant she couldn't fall out but the harness really limits the positions you can carry the baby in and cradle style is really the only way it is effective.
Once the weather turned warmed the sling was far too hot to carry the baby in even if dressed in just a diaper and vest. Both the baby and the sling wearer ended up sweaty and uncomfortable and we had to abandon using the sling at all.
