Author's Review
Sliders, particularly in its early seasons, was one of the most intriguing and thought provoking series ever conceived. Bob Weiss and Tracy Torme assembled an outstanding cast:
Jerry O'Connell, who plays Quinn, lends a great sense of personality, humility, youth, brains and heart to the boy genius.
Sabrina Lloyd is terrific as Wade, adventurous, spontaneous and down to earth.
Cleavant Derricks is just fantastic as washed up R&B star Rembrandt Brown. He adds a great deal of humor, surprise, and has some great one-liners.
John Rhys-Davies was the real Heart of the show, always giving off his unique and often improvised theories on the worlds they visit.
The first 2 seasons, while only 23 episodes, represent the show as intended by creator Torme, who loved to mix alternate worlds together with divergent history, satire, suspense, and excitement. It's hard to remember a show of the sci-fi genre that was as fun and intellectually challenging as Sliders.
Despite limited extras, I think the strength of the series itself is enough reason to watch these DVDs!
