Author's Review
I buy this magazine for a junior high school library because I want to have a magazine for kids interested in skateboarding. I like the fact that it covers skateboarding history, basic moves, etiquette, interviews, biographies, Q&A, gear, and all the important info, but it's not really age-appropriate.
Although it describes itself as a product for teens and KIDS on the go, it really isn't appropriate for this age group because it shows body parts (mooning, women's breasts, women french kissing and fondling each other in an add . . . what does this have to do with skateboarding?), its language can be crude, and can be sexist (Sept.04) "If you like big-A (Epinions made me edit out their word) white chicks covered with tattoos. . ."
I'd love to see a magazine like this that covers the topics listed above (skateboarding history, basic moves, etc.) that's geared to 12-14 year olds. I realize there's a "skateboard culture" they are trying to promote, but surely there's an audience for "just the facts".
