Pros: Solid acting

Cons: Fairly poor sound quality on DVD

This is an early (1931) Hitchcock drama starring John Longden and Helen Haye. Two feuding families, one aristocratic and the other self-made, make up the plot of this movie. Set in a small English village, the tension builds between the two families as they maneuver to displace the other. The resolution and its consequences are not surprising, but again this a film from the '30s. Just enjoy it for what it is.

The DVD version of this movie had intermittent sound problems. The top of the screen was cut off in a few scenes also. Not a perfect transfer to DVD, but I've seen worse problems.
