Six Feet Under: You think your family is weird? Try this one.

Date of Review:  Jun 5, 2003
The Bottom Line: Interesting, graphic look at Death in America, and plenty of interpersonal conflict. Not for the squeamish, of any stripe.
Review: Let's meet the Fishers, a typical dysfunctional family in modern day Los Angeles. Mom, Dad and the kids. Nathaniel Fisher (Richard Jenkins) - Dad - works hard all day, drumming up business, smoking too much, and slipping the occasional smoke when he...

Six Degrees of Separation

Date of Review:  Aug 24, 2001
The Bottom Line: Six Feet Under is not for all tastes, but for those who try it and like it; It will get even better next season.
Review: Now that the first season has come to an end, I feel that I can give Six Feet Under an appropriate opinion. Like reading a good book or watching a classic movie, you have to see episodic television from the beginning of the season till the bitter...

One of the most compelling TV shows I've ever seen!

Date of Review:  Jun 26, 2008
The Bottom Line: My final recommendation? SEE IT!!! If you don't like it within the first three or four episodes, you never will. If you do, you'll be hooked.
Review: NOTE: The bulk of the review below was written a couple of years ago, and only after seeing Season 1. Since that time, I've seen the whole show, and will provide an "update" to my thoughts at the very bottom.

A Mostly Dead-On First Season

Date of Review:  Apr 21, 2003
The Bottom Line: The story of a funeral home being passed from father to sons paints the picture of one of the weirdest television families in American television history.
Review: I have enjoyed Peter Krause's work since he first appeared on "Cybil" and so when the former "Sports Night" (reviewed at: http://www.epinions.com/content_88946806404 ) actor got "Six Feet Under," I was instantly intrigued. For some weeks, there had...

Six Feet Under (on HBO)

Date of Review:  Aug 19, 2001
The Bottom Line: Although it sometimes spends too much time on gay issues, this is a wonderful show about an offbeat family.
Review: I really love this show and have seen every episode except for most of the first one. It is about a family that runs a funeral home. In the first episode, the father dies and leaves the business to his sons. He leaves behind 2 sons, a teenage...

A fly on the wall of Fisher & Sons

Date of Review:  Aug 24, 2001
The Bottom Line: Watching this show is a great, cathartic experience. Makes me laugh, cry and grieve all within the same hour.
Review: I just finished watching the season finale of the first season of Six Feet Under, an HBO original series. I have a medical background I?ve worked in hospital laboratories and I even watched an autopsy once, but I haven?t had much personal experience...

Grave New World

Date of Review:  Aug 24, 2001
The Bottom Line: Dark comedy that will keep you coming back for more in this twisted tale of a family in mourning.
Review: If you have not tuned in on this HBO series yet, consider yourself forewarned, this show is not for the fainthearted. This bizarre series is jam packed with sexually explicit trysts (both heterosexual and homosexual), graphic death scenes, vulgar...

Six Feet Under is like a drug. A major addiction.

Date of Review:  Feb 21, 2002
The Bottom Line: If you missed this season than wait for the box set to come out. This show is too good to miss.
Review: When I saw the preview even before the series started I was interested in the series. The characters seemed very, very, very interesting. The story I was clueless about. When I watched episode 1 I immediately wanted more. Six Feet Under turned out...

Six Feet Under not soon to go belly up.

Date of Review:  Aug 19, 2001
The Bottom Line: A wicked good series with enough dark humor to fill a casket. Ensemble cast work well together to make the characters and situations believable.
Review: The creator of the movie "American Beauty" Takes his talent to the 'small screen'. In fact it's anything but small, it's like watching a mini-movie every week, I look forward to it and as the season finale nears I'm really excited, but sad to see...
