Cut out the static!
Date of Review: Jan 27, 2008
The Bottom Line: Good choice for satellite radio. Pay the extra to have it installed with the FM audio relay equipment.
I purchased this Sirius radio for my husband as a birthday present because he loves to listen to his college football team on the radio. Depending on where we are driving, sometimes the static would drive me insane. I chose Sirius because they carried his college team. I chose this particular model because it was well priced and seems to have the features I wanted.
We have had this radio and service for over a year. My husband, who was initially skeptical, is a Sirius convert. He loves being able to get the programming he wants, when he wants it. I am not as convinced, though I do enjoy the various theme stations. I agree with a previous reviewer that there seems to be a pretty limited song selection for each of the stations.
The biggest piece of information I can recommend is that you pay extra to have the system hardwired into your car, and the additional extra for the FM modulator. This allows you to override the incoming FM signal when you are using the Sirius radio, eliminating the need to change the FM transmission signal every time you change markets.
This particular model has preset buttons for your favorite stations, plus the ability to sort by genre. It has a rewind feature to catch up on missed audio. The screen is blue and is hard to see in bright light.
