Great Electronic Machine

I own this machine and bought it Fall 2005 when it first came out. I had been using a machine that was 20 years old (Singer Touch N Sew), but it only took a few hours to learn to use the new one. It is marvelous. Having so many stitches and buttonhole types available makes sewing a breeze. I have sewn all types of fabric, from sheer knit, to darning a sleeping bag rip, to extra heavy denim. No problems!

The controls are easy to use and switching between stitches is extremely easy. Feed dogs move fabric smoothly, throat of machine is large and allows the sewing of bulky/large pieces. Presser feet are easy to remove. With precision of the electronic machine, using specialty feet is a bonus because of the accurate stitching. Auto-tension generally works, but have manually adjusted it for extra-thick jobs, such as flat fell seams in denim.

Recommend that buyers read the book thoroughly and use scrap fabric to try out various combinations of stitches and fabric thicknesses. Always use a correctly sized needle and unplug when not in use (power surge might ruin it).

Features I miss from old machine are apparently not widely available anymore (wind-in-place bobbin, sliding needle plate, presser foot lifter on the back). I spent a month researching machines and think I made a good choice for the price.
