Not bad, not great

Date of Review: Aug 2, 2007

I bought this lens about two months ago because I just entered the world of DSLR and wanted an inexpensive macro lens to learn on and if I dropped it or lost it, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Works great outdoors and at past 200mm or so you'll need a very steady hand and/or a monopod or tripod. It's not a fast lens and makes audible noise during autofocus.

For the money, I think I paid $125 or so, it's a good lens, a little heavy and it doesn't have a high quality/durability feel like my Nikon lens. It has a matte finish which I wasn't expecting and don't really like although I have a photographer friend who likes it. Go figure.

I have a Nikon D80 with the 18-135mm kit lens and just recently purchased a 50mm lens. These three should hold me over until I can get the Nikon 18-200mm VR which will replace all three.
