Pros: Excellent focal range, solid quality feel.
Cons: Concern about upgrading camera software and then needing to re-chip the lens.
Review: I purchased this lens to go with my new Canon EOS-30D dSLR. I considered very carefully whether to go with a third party lens, but after reading several reviews on this lens, and the price comparison I decided to go for it. I am glad that I did - I ...

Pros: Good focal range, good close ups and solid feel.
Cons: The lens is a little noisy, but not enough to distract.
Review: When I bought my Canon 30D it came with a 24-135mm IS lens which didn't have enough wide angle. I picked up a kit 18-55mm Canon for a fill in. When the money allowed I bought the Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-45 DC lens and what a difference. The quality of the ...

Pros: -fast sharp focus, great colors, nice range, price
Cons: -none I can think of
Review: I looked into a few lenses to take the place of the kit lens and give a little more reach, this was about $340 and fit the bit, tons of good reviews on the photo web site. I am not sorry I got this, took a little convincing to get the wife on board ...

Pros: Nice focal length, excellent pictures in mid to long focal length, good aperture
Cons: Poor picture at wide end, sliding zoom ring, Useless lock function, Heavy.
Review: I got this for my EOS-400D to replace my standard 18-55mm lens. As soon as I got in on the camera I realised how much heavier it was, nearly half a kilo on it's own. However once I got used to it, I found it balances with the camera quite well and as a ...

Pros: Build quality, focal range, decent macro capabilities.
Cons: Heavy, loud AF motor, AF hunts sometimes.
Review: I bought this lens a few months ago and used it on a Canon 10D and now I'm using it on my 400D. I like the lens and it has a good focal range but the biggest problem I've noticed is it's focusing inconsistency and it's very loud focusing motor. If you ...

Pros: manual focus smooth and viewfinder image clear, sharp images, contrast medium.
Cons: Zooms very long 6", external focus ring turns during auto focus, HORRIFIC BARREL DISTORTION everywhere.
Review: Basically a sound lens but see the issue that kills it for me, otherwise has no competitors which may be sufficient reason to buy ...
