Very Good Inexpensive Phone

I had a nice trusty BellSouth phone, for the past 2 years or so. I was a really nice phone although the range was not very good or the battery life. The antenna broke and it was time to get a new phone.



I searched around on ebay looking for a new phone. I wanted a modern phone, with 2.4GHz frequency, and also looked good and would turn my guests heads. I was first attracted by the G.E.
2.4Ghz phone, it was very attractive. But when I saw the Seimens 242 I imediately liked it better.



I got the phone on Ebay for a steal of $30.




When it arrived I was immeadiately impressed by it's size. It was very small almost the size of a cellphone and very light. I immediately plugged it in and charged it for the required 12 hours. I began to use it the next day.




The first time I used it I got a compliment from a friend saying I sounded crisper than usual. I was immediately impressed by the fact that someone could tell the difference in my new phone.



Now let me go on to the things that could be improved a bit.



Battery life although it does last for the quoted 4 hrs, could be a little better, the G.E. phone quotes 6hrs.



To dial speed dial numbers is a bit awkward because, u have to press talk then the entry number, or go thru two sections of the menu and scroll up and down, i find these methods a bit annoying. I believe that this could have been solved by adding a speed dial button.



Another aspect that I find annoying is that the phone gets quite hot if used for an hour or two non-stop. I find it a bit wierd but it is not too much of a problem.



Sometimes when the phone is picked up (but not very often), there is static but it diminishes quickly and the person at the other end does not seem to hear it.



Overall it is an excellent phone, I have not really tested it's range as such, but it works very well in all corners of my house.
