Shure SM58
Pros:
great sound
great looking
durable
reliable
Cons:
I find this mic to be one of the best in my small arsenal.
The Bottom Line:
Overall a great mic, but if you're searching for higher quality, invest a little bit more money in the 55SH Series II, beta 57a or KSM27 highly recommended!

Author's Review
This is a great microphone for vocals, but choose something different for miking anything other than.
At the time that I bought this mic, I was looking for something cheap, and at least better sounding than a karaoke mic :-) and it was recommended by a friend who frequents live shows.
I've personally used this mic only for recording vocals, and I think it sounds great in my environment (a home based, more on the experimental side project studio not particularly designed for vocals), compared to other mics in its class- such as the Nady sp5 or Nady SCM900, even though they are a little less expensive.
What I love the most as a consumer is when I can say "For the hard earned money I spent on this product, I SHURE got a good deal!"
Great sounding, and "as tough as a nail", as Shure would put it- I'm glad I took my friends advice, and because Shure impressed me so much with this mic, I bought the Shure 55SH Series II, which is another great mic, though not as durable.
Another thing I like about the SM58 is that it looks good too! It's actually pleasing to look at, you almost want to sing to it when it's in front of you. ;-)
Of the 3 other mics mentioned, what I like most about this mic (I'm a geek, so what?) is:
Less background and handling noise than the others! - this is really good for me, since my "studio" is by no means isolated.
Built in wind/pop filter (I heard claims of this, but had to make sure for myself)
Frequency response: 50 to 15,000 Hz, which works out great for all vocals.
