Product Review

Sound a bit thin to me and difficult to put in ear.

by   drollic ,   Apr 3, 2008

Pros:  Several cover styles. Two part cable.

Cons:  Difficult to place in ears and don't have a very strong bass.

The Bottom Line:  I wish I had bought a different model. I find I rarely use these.

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Author's Review

I've been using Sony EX-70's for several years but they recently went out so I thought I'd try out some new Shure earphones.

I like the various cover styles and sizes that come with it. It takes some experimenting to find out which set works the best though.

The shape of the bud is skewed, I suppose to get the best angle into the ear, but I find it awkward to have to orient them each time I put them in. I could just push the Sony's in but these have to be placed carefully each time. Gets a little tiresome if you have to put them in and take them out several times.

As to sound, I haven't been able to get the same level of bass that I got from the Sony's. For the strongest bass you have to push them in deeply at the correct angle and even with that, the bass doesn't sound totally balanced with the rest of the music. Also when they are set properly to give the strongest bass they put a lot of pressure in my ear which gets tiresome. If they aren't set deeply you get almost no bass.

Overall I'm rather disappointed and find myself listening to the generic apple earphones more because they are easier use.

I keep reading that the discontinued E2c are many people's favorites so I'm going to try a pair and see if they are easier and sound better.
