Product Review

Like a candy shop for the ears

by   hyperm3 ,   Oct 14, 2006

Pros:  If you've spent the money on a good Mp3 player, these are an awesome companion.

Cons:  Pricey entrance fee

The Bottom Line:  If you only needed one set of headphones these are them. Makes music come alive in your head.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I prefer in ear headphones as opposed to clunky over hear headphones for many reasons. As a commuter I like to block out the sounds of others and keep my sound in. I like to fall asleep sometimes as well without making the weight of my head any heavier.

All that being said, I replaced my old e3's with these new e4's. Where the old e3's were good, the e4's are amazing.

I tried a lot of other brands but kept coming back to the Shures because I liked the fit and finish. The e4 now have replaceable tips which I really liked as an option. A little bit heavier but negligible in the ear, just feels built better.

The sound quality is superb. I can’t fathom spending hundreds more on higher end models when this is to me well worth the entry fee. Yes these might be pricey as well but your ears will thank you for making the music sound like you’re right there in the middle of whatever band you’re listening to.

The bass is much better on the e4 and the tonal quality is sharper as well. If you already have e3's try these and you’ll find it’s worth the money to trade up. If you don’t have either, just get these from the start and never look back.

Everybody hears things differently so I can’t say that you’ll experience everything I noticed, maybe even more than me. However I don’t know anyone that was unhappy with their purchase of these, and I’ve convinced a lot of people.
