We are a newly married couple in our 20's, so I can't give a children's review on this game, but as adults, it is actually a very fun game!
There is the main game that follows, for the most part, the story line of Shrek the Third. There are some things added to help the story line of the game and give you more things to do. You need both the controller and the nunchuck for this game. This game is fun because at different parts of the game, you get to be different characters, including Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, and Puss in Boots. For each section of the game, you have 'quests' to complete and you get points for each quest you complete. You can then go back through the level and try to complete all the quests, and this also allows you to collect more coins.
The coins can be used to buy costumes for the characters, harder levels, and accessories for this game and also the multiplayer game.
Some of the parts of the main game were difficult for me, as I had never had video games growing up, but were easier for my husband, who has grown up with them. I would imagine it would be difficult for younger children.
There are some mini games that can be played with either one or two players. They are short and fun. Slightly challenging, I had trouble with the higher levels of some of them.
Our favorite is the multiplayer game, a two player game where you have a catapult and a ballista and have to shoot each other's towers down before the other player. Balloons come up in the center that you can shoot at that will either repair a tower, give you a special arrow or boulder, or put an ink blot over the other person's screen so they can't see for a few seconds.
Children will have fun with this game, but older children, teens, and adults can do a little more with the game, and have just as much, if not more fun. We have had this game since Christmas and still have a lot of fun with the multiplayer games, it is fun to be a little competitive with a fun, silly game.
I definitely recommend it to anyone.
