Product Review

Toy PDA

by   davidhaile ,   Sep 15, 2004

Pros:  Cheap, long-lasting batteries. USB, Outlook synch.

Cons:  More style than substance.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

I've been an off and on user of PDA's for years. I recently had a Palm Pilot but grew disgusted at its tendency to lose all information if I left it on my dresser for a couple of weeks. Thought I would try the Sharp OZ-290H because it used watch batteries which should last a long time.

Well - it looks good, the packaging description says it has good features, but it is not worth owning. My primary complaint is that half of the screen is taken up by either qwerty keys or calculator buttons which reduces the amount of information that can be displayed for things like appointments and calendar items. I would like to quickly scroll through my appointments to see what I have coming up. I have to select the appointment, scroll past the darn date/time/start/end/reminder fields to get to the field that shows what I'm supposed to be doing at that time.

I also don't like the fact that it always comes up in some calorie counter screen. I can't seem to get it to come up in clock or calendar mode.

I'll be tossing this in a drawer and will purchase something else soon.
