Author's Review

Before purchasing a camcorder, I researched all of the models I could find. At the time, very few had LCD displays. Rather, most required that you peep through a viewfinder.

With the Sharp camcorder, I was able to see the actual event as well as keep an eye on the recording process. Most camcorders now have LCD displays, but continue to suffer a serious drawback in the positioning of the hand. They still want you to hold the camcorder in a fashion similar to the old shoulder-mounted behemoths of a decade ago. This is where the Sharp truly stands out. The camcorder itself is held by one or two hands in an ergonomically comfortable fashion and the swivel portion of the machine allows you to raise or lower the entire camcorder while remaining focused on the subject. I've seen no other camcorder with such a clever design.

Of course, it has all of the other features one would expect on a camcorder these days, such as variable zoom and jiggle control. If I have one complaint, it is that Sharp changed the size and type of batteries used, which makes finding replacements more challenging.
