Meals in Minutes- Sharp Microwave

My microwave is another kitchen appliance I could not live without. I have the Sharp series 230 carousel, model R-410AK/AW. This is the only microwave I have ever owned. I purchased it eight years ago and it still works like it did the day I pulled it out of the box.

I had previously owned other Sharp products and liked the quality. So when I started my microwave hunt, I started with Sharp. I liked the carousel feature and the instant buttons, so I purchased it.

The Sharp Microwave measures 12 inches deep, 11 ¾ inches wide and 8 inches tall. The glass carousel plate measures 11 ½ inches in diameter.

There are eight instant action keys. The instant action keys are buttons that are programmed to cook a specific item for a specific time. Let’s say you want two baked potatoes. You put the potatoes in and push the baked potato button twice (for two potatoes).

Even though this was one reason I purchased this specific microwave, I don’t use all these buttons and I will tell you why.

First there is Popcorn Button. I don’t use this button because it doesn’t cook my popcorn long enough. There are two many kernels at the bottom of the bag if I use this button. (I know- I’m picky!)

Then there’s the beverage button that can be used for coffee, tea or any beverage you want hot. I use this button in the winter for hot chocolate.

The reheat casserole is next. This button is for reheating a big dish. I occasionally will use this but most times I like to plug in my own numbers.

The Dinner Plate is used for heating a plate of food. I will sometimes use this button but again, normally like to plug in my own numbers.

The Baked Potato button. This is one button I could not live without. I use this button all the time. You put your potato in and when the microwave beeps, perfect potatoes.

Fresh Veggies is a button to steam fresh vegetables. Add a bit of water to the dish and push the button. It will cook one cup, or push the button twice for two cups. I use this feature often.

And lastly, a fresh roll/muffin button and a frozen roll/muffin button. I have used the fresh but not the frozen. I use the fresh button to warm up stale rolls or just to heat rolls.

You also have an Express Defrost. Did you forget to pull something for dinner again? Put it in the microwave and touch the express defrost and you will soon having something to cook for dinner. If you have two pounds of steak, but the steak in the microwave and push the express button four times. Each time it goes up half a pound. I use this feature more then anything else. I am always forgetting to pull something for dinner so this has been my lifesaver many times.

There is also a minute plus button. Want to add a minute more of cooking time. Press the minute plus button for every extra minute needed.

Of course the microwave has a number pad, ten power levels, audible sounds, a stop/clear button, a timer, a clock, and a digital display. You can also use multiple sequence cooking. This allows you to program all the sequences that you will need for cooking of your item. There is also a one-touch door; it doesn’t have a handle.

The Sharp Microwave is easy to use and program. It’s relatively easy to clean if it’s cleaned as soon as there is a spill. Do not forget to clean because it can be a devil to clean, if the food gets baked on. The glass carousel can be removed for cleaning.

I owned this microwave for eight years and have never had a problem with it. I really don’t know what I would do without it. I love this microwave and would recommend it to anyone.
