Beautiful picture except for banding

For the price and picture quality, it's hard to beat, but there are horizontal bands of lighter and darker areas which spoil the picture. I had my retailer replace the set twice, but the same exact problem was apparent in the replacements. Sharp customer service, which did their very best to help me, also tried an exchange, but it also had the banding problem. It is obviously not an uncommon problem (just read avsforum.com and you'll confirm this).
