Author's Review
After living several months with a tempermental Konica copier, I made the decision to replace it with the new Sharp machine. Our office is fairly small and we make less than 1,000 copies monthly. We were looking for a copier that could handle that capacity, was compact and offered high resolution...all at a very reasonable price. That's a tall order, but one the AL-1631 fills nicely.
My first impression of the machine was that it was too small to do what we wanted, but I was wrong! It has so many features for its size including: zoom out/in, auto toner save mode, by-pass copying, dual dpi mode and much more. To go a step further, the copies this digital copier turns out are very crisp and clear.
This copier is not one for an ultra busy office that makes hundreds of copies a day; it's just too slow for that. All the functions are easy to understand and the copier itself is extremely easy to use. Some of its default settings are somewhat annoying, especially the power save mode. If that's left on, prepare to wait several minutes to make copies. I have since turned that feature off.
In summary, this delightful machine will be perfect in a small office/home office setting. The copies it makes are clear and sharp and it's absolutely packed with features for the price. Nice job Sharp!
