Shake Flashlight -- Great For Camping Or Hurricane Preparedness
Date of Review: Jan 9, 2008
The Bottom Line: Tired of using batteries in flashlights then give this a try.
Intro
Are you prepared for the next hurricane or camping? Well, I am since I have a Shake Flashlight, imitation shake flashlight, two of Mini Maglites and several Gordon 2AA Aluminum Flashlights.
Why This Shake Flashlight
My main reason for buying the Shake Flashlight is because Shake Flashlight is simple to use and does not require batteries, just a simple shake to get power. Plus I picked it up for only a dollar.
What I Like
I like that it is simple to use just click the button (like you would do on a big Maglite) making it easy to use. It is nice and bright since it uses a LED for the lighting. The amount of light is not as much as a Maglite but is still adequate for getting around the house in the dark.
What I Do Not Like
I do not like that it is made in China and that you can not focus the light beam but other than that it has so far been an excellent performing flashlight.
How We Used It & Why
Predominantly the Shake Flashlight was used as a night lite in my room when the power goes out, which happens often around here about once or twice a month during the night time hours.
Quality
It is as high quality since I have had since late 2005 and have not had any problems with it.
Power Source
It is powered by the magnet being moved back and forth through the copper coil.
Light Source
The lighting source is a LED and works very well.
Power Duration
The light will last fifteen to thirty minutes typically from shaking little over a minute and up to near a hour from being shaken from two to five minutes.
Would I Buy Again
Yes, because it is a great product that I got for a great deal for only a dollar.
Place of Manufacture
Made in China
Additional Notes
The imitation Shake Flashlights generally have two batteries in them that are two button cells and can cost a little over five dollars to replace and I do not recommend buying them.
