Free multi-player game.
Pros:
Ever-changing environment. FREE!
Cons:
Can be quite complex sometimes.
The Bottom Line:
Shadowbane is a Great multi-player game for it's complex character creation and guild structure. And the fact that it is free to play is certainly a plus.

Author's Review
The first thing you need to know is that this game is fantastic multiplayer PvP game. The next thing you need to know is why.
The Guild system in the game really helps to create this great game, but lets start with the basics. You can be one of many races including, but not limited to, vampires, dwarfs, aracoix(birdmen), centaurs, and elfs. You start off as one of 4 different base classes(fighter, rogue, mage, healer). You can be one of many promotion classes including, but not limited to, assasins, wizards, huntress, crusader, necromancer, druids, barbarians, Bards, Priests, scouts, and thiefs. Which classes you can be depend on your race but the variety is usually pretty good. This is especially true when you have the knowledge that there are RUNES that you apply to your character that give him/her more abilities. There are ability runes which raise your physical attributes, and there are Disciple runes that give you various abilities. Some allow you to cast certain spells, or give you the ability to fight 2 handed, or give you access to a certain weapon. The Disciplines available include, but are not limited to, Commander, huntsman, bounty hunter, traveller, master of (various weapons), archer, werebear, enchanter, summoner, archmage, knight and undead hunter. Level 75 is currently the highest level one can achieve. The Complexity in building a character is reflected in the complexity in building a guild. One could go it alone, but built into the game is the idea of a guild. Groups of people own towns (which can be conquered, owned, sold, and lost by you). Groups of people from these guilds are often wandering around looking to take on each other, and a lone wanderer often gets caught in the middle. Thus, for a fantastic gaming experience one MUST belong to a guild. This is not hard. create a character and ask around, someone will always be willing to take another person in their guild. There is a NOOB island in which PvP does not apply, giving you a chance to aquiant yourself with the game, without the need for finding a guild right away. Then when you belong to a guild you can bane(attack) towns and take them over.
This game is far more complex than even I have made it seem, but these are the essentials to getting started, and to getting you interested.
The final thing you need to know if this game seemed enticing enough to you is that you should go to chronicle.ubi.com to download the game for free. And when you want to create a character you should go to http://www.mordkessel.com/wiki/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page. These are two invailuable resources. The expansion packs are included in the free downloads now, so enjoy, and I will see you on the battlefield.
