Different than the average detector....
Pros:
Compact size, two cords, inexpensive, very good performance for the price.
Cons:
No low light level setting for the display. Batteries not housed within the unit.
The Bottom Line:
A good choice in the approx. $100 range, if the features are what you want. However, don't expect it to equal a Valentine.....

Author's Review
Unlike the detector belonging to the first reviewer, mine was not a defective unit. This unit detected Ka at ranges comparable to several other detectors that I've used that are in the same general (list) price range. However, this model can be found on ebay for ~$100. At that price seems to be equal, if not slightly better, than the Cobras and Whistlers of equal price.
There are a few things about this detector that are worth mentioning. One is that it is smaller in size than any other $100 detector that I've seen so far. It is also silver in color, whereas most others are basic black. If you want a detector that doesn't look like a detector, then this is the one for you. This model comes with both coiled and straight cords - something even my expensive Bel doesn't do. It can also run off of batteries (2AA) as well, though I did not use it in this manner. I should point out that the batteries are not located inside the unit itself, but instead are housed in one of the two different windshield mounts.
Some things I liked, besides the compact size: the detector can be easily detached from the window mounts, so you don't have to be messing around with unsticking suction cups every time you want to secure the unit. The volume level is easily adjusted, and I also like the display that is angled slightly to the left. This last feature may work against you if you visor-mount the unit upside down. If you do mount it upside down, you can flip the display to read right-side up. I also like the presence of a signal-strength meter too.
Some things I didn't like: the silver color makes reflections in the windshield much more visible, depending on where you mount it. There are only two display lighting modes - on and off. Therefore, if at night you do not want to let someone behind you to know you are using a detector, then you have to run with lights out. I don't like doing this, as I am constantly wondering if the unit is still on (if you do choose to run with lights out, the display will come back on automatically upon detection of a signal). I prefer a detector that has a display that can be adjusted to a low light output level for nighttime use.
All in all, this detector is easily the performance equal of others in the $100 range - one just has to decide if the features are right for you. By the way, if you get a defective unit, don't use it. Send it back and get it repaired or replaced....
