Better than I thought it would be!

I found this movie accidentally about three years ago while attending a convention for a company I worked for at the time. I recognized the title form previews I had seen recently and realized it was adapted from the novel by Jane Austen. Having read the novel in the past and enjoying it very much, I was a bit hesitant to view the film. Sometimes I have found films to be an inaccurate depiction of different publications, thus ruining the entire experience for me.

This is not the case, however, with this particular film. This romantic comedy starring Emma Thompson (Elinor Dashwood), Kate Winslet (Marianne Dashwood) and Hugh Grant (Edward Ferris) tells of the Dashwood sisters and the misfortune they suffered at the time of their father's unfortunate death. Trapped by the strict rules of society and conflicting laws of desire, the sisters are confronted by several well-intentioned suitors.

Laughter, tears, merriment and frustration fills the minutes of this flick from beginning to end. The portrayal of these characters is carried out superbly by this outstanding cast. I was, and still am, very impressed with their ability to "stay in character" during even the most challenging of scenes. Personally, I have seen this movie dozens of times and still can't get enough of it.
