The Bottom Line: If you get these headphones I think you will love them. Not much else to say.
Previously I was using Audio-Technica studio monitor headphones (M40fs) because I got a great deal on them about 2 years ago. The only trouble was I couldn't wear them for very long because they fit mostly on top of my ears a little too much and they got really sore in about 1 hour. When I am recording or mixing I need more than 1 hour before I take a break.....
So then the right side cut out so I ordered the Senn's HD280 Pro's on the advice of Epinion and other web sites and I am glad I did.
The sound was very precise and picked up subtle noises I've never heard before with the other headphones. The highs are so crisp that the volume needed to be turned down a bit because it hurt my ears. The bass is nice and crisp and not boomy like I've heard in some Sony headphones. They claim a Freq response of 8hz in the low end, which is incredible for even speakers, let alone headphones. The highs are rated to 25kHz, which is possibly why they can pick up sounds you might have missed before.
They look elegant, fit great OVER my ears, and sound great. What more would one want from headphones???
Well, the thing I hate about these phones is the coiled wire. It simply puts resistance on my head that I don't need. That's the only drawback to these cans.
Finally started breaking down in construction in the plastic headband area, still sounding great though. I had no idea I actually had them 4 plus years, I thought it was more like 2 years. Upgrading to the Beyerdynamic DT770's.
