Top notch value

The Bottom Line: I recommend the Sennheiser 280Pro to anyone who wants closed type headphones for>$100. They are very accurate, provide excellent separation of sound, and also provide great isolation from outside noise.
I recently began radio broadcasting school and needed to get a solid pair of headphones at a reasonable price(under $100). I did alot of research around the internet and asked for opinions from people I know. My friends told me to buy closed cans over $50. Around the internet I found alot of info on different phones but when it came down to it, it always seemed it was either the Sennheiser 280Pro and the Sony V6/7605 for under $100. I have some experience with the Sonys and they are good performers but what set the Sennheisers apart was the "clinical" description I read somewhere. Boy, they were right! These really separate the different sounds out. This makes them ideal for studio production and editing. Also they block out most of the ambient noise so all you hear is the music or vocals. One of the major knocks on these is the bass. Many people said it was poor. I disagree. The bass is deep and full but lacking only in the mid tones. The Sennheisers do not amplify the bass you hear, you only get what the artist put into the song. I am still in the process of burning them in and it is said they really open up after a proper burn in. I can not wait because if they get any better I will be astonished. I highly recommend the Sennheiser 280Pro to anyone seeking closed headphones at a reasonable price.
