Sennheiser PMX 60 Consumer Headphones

Got those recently along with my new MP3 player. Basically to replace those horrible "button-style" ones provided with the device : honestly, who can really enjoy music from such an horrible design ? From a purely musical point of view, button earphones should be banned !
I was not expecting miracles from that brand at that price point, but what the hell, it was, after all, for an mp3 player. I must admit that I have been pleasantly surprised ever since. I also use them on my laptop. And, just for the kick of it, I plugged them in my HT receiver with a 1/4" adaptor I had. Useless to say that they come a bit shy from my Grado SR-125 as far as details and volume are concerned. But nonetheless, they do a fairly decent job. For anyone that has only used those awful button phones or some "cheapo" sony ones, these little things will leave them asking why they have been waiting so long before upgrading. And considering the price, it is not that much of an investment here for quite an improvement in sound quality. Bass is quite decent, pretty close to a good home pair of headphones and years ahead of anything you can get with the lousy little buttons. Vocal part is also very well rendered with no audible humps or dips in the response curve. Highs are pretty crisp too, not as "brilliant" as my Grados that are actually a little "sibillant" anyway.
Personally, I especially appreciate that "behind the head" design. Wearing hats most of the time, its the perfect fit for me. Plus the fact that you don't have that odd feeling of something coming in the way between your nugget and your headgear. The are very stable too, you wont need to readjust them all the time : they hold in place very well !  Only little downside : recently I had to bring them back to the store for replacement because the wire was cut near the plug.  Thanks to the two year warranty, they were immediately replaced no questions asked.
