Even after reading about some of the bad experiences some fellow users have had on this product, I still decided to get one as I needed a drive to backup all my documents/music/videos etc, and the price was decent ($125). Connecting the drive was a breeze - just hookup the power supply, connect the USB cord, and you are up and running.
The one problem with this drive is that it does not come with a good backup program. It does have a simple, rudimentary program (Bounceback), but nothing that is robust. I guess to get a robust backup software, one needs to upgrade to the "pro" version! :-) The version that comes with the package just allows you to backup the drives you specify. Unfortunately, the backup is equivalent to a "copy" of the documents, as that is what it does. There is no way to keep a "version" control - so you cannot go back to a version as of a certain date.
As far as the drive is concerned, I have not had the problems that have been mentioned (so far). While I might have to eat my words at a later point, I am extremely happy with my purchase, and will recommend it to anyone who is interested in this.
Had this drive come with good software, I would have rated it a 5, but because it is not there, I will rate it a 4.
