I needed a new hard drive, and I knew that Seagate was the only company offering a 5 year warranty on their hard drives. It cost more, but I believe that it was worth it.
This specific hard drive can not be heard over the power supply. I can not even tell when it seeks unless I look at the led. The drive itself looks like a normal newer Seagate styled drive, without the Seashell protective rubber. What really sold me on the drive was the 5 year warranty that no one else in the industry offers.
The drive came packaged very well. It was wrapped in the anti-static bag, put into a protective shell, then put into the plastic protective package. It is no wonder that Seagate drives don't come dead on arrival.
The drive also included the ata cable and the software. The software was great and included drive copy, installation, and testing. I do have to comment that even though the software offered more features than Hitachi's software, it was a bit clunky and there was no mouse support.
As for the drive performance, it is performs faster than my old 7200 rpm 2mb cache drive. This may be because it came with 8mb cache.
