Author's Review
I as an Adam Sandler fan have seen far much better from the actor in his movies. He humour has matured some what since his SNL days, but not all of it, as some of his old humour has popped up in more recent movies from the first few movies he had worked on. I wasn't overly impressed with this DVD, but I am neither really a fan of SNL in general, as I don't find the programme set-up to my liking, but I no millions more of it viewers would disagree.
I had not heard of Adam Sandler in his SNL days, and only heard of him when he was in Happy Gilmore, and instantly was hooked on his humour. If you have never seen any of Adam Sandlers movies, and enjoy SNL then this would be something I think you would enjoy, and get a feel for his first few movies, like Happy Gilmore. Like Jim Carey he has matured his comedy some, and this would be a nostalga DVD more than anything for me.
Adam Sandler has become a great comedy actor, with now creating Happy Madison, taking parts of two titles of two of his movies, and has made his own production company making good-very good movies, and SNL being a leap forward for the actor, after getting small parts in show such as the Cosby show.
His SNL best of DVD is to me not as funny as his movies, but that may of been due to lack of freedom form the SNL show bosses, and at the time other stars like Baldwin claiming bigger stardom status at the time (see the camping scene on the DVD). I also find SNL more of a group of individual comedians coming together as a team, and most of the SNL shows I have watched regardless of Adam Sandler being in them or not doesn't really have a team spirit due to so many different people being on the show throughout the years. So I feel that this DVD does not really give Adam Sandler the justice he deserves.
Although I may sound negative somewhat, this DVD will be great for teenagers with a sense humour that is directed towards human mannorisms, and different kinds of people.
Adam Sandlers humour is very intelligent at times, and some of the scenes in this DVD do show that.
