"Gimme That Candy!!!.........."

The Ever Talented Adam Sandler...We are big "Big Daddy" fans at my house...Looking over the New Releases at Hollywood Video, I spotted "Saturday Night Lives Best Of Adam Sandler"..."My husband will love this" , I thought...Since he usually disapproves of my chic-flick choices, I thought he would be proud!

That night, after the kids were in bed, we popped it in the VCR, expected to laugh our heads off, with Adam and that crazy voice of his....

While the majority of the time, he displayed his usual innocent charm, this is for adults only!

This movie(Collection) is 90 minutes long, and jumps from one scene to the next, covering Adam's many-years-stint on the popular comedy icon. Some of it is outdated (from the gulf war, old news subjects...)But Adam is Adam,and he always makes you laugh,whatever decade he is in.

*Bruce Springsteen: Adam, joined with the host, Courtney Cox,j umps up on stage and sings "Dancin' In The Dark" (Courtney's debut in show business in the famous video)...He looks, dances and sounds just like Bruce, and won't get off the stage until Courtney pulls the mike from him. Lots of laughs..

*The Gap: Adam and David Spade dress up like teen girls who work at the Gap, and gossip rather than work. Alec Baldwin,plays a two timing teen who is dating both "Lucy" (Sandler) and "Chrissy" (Spade). It is funny, even though those two make very unattractive females...Baldwin tries to weasel his way out of playing the two girls, when another girl from the mall (Played by Rob Schnieder) comes up to the group and says that (s)he is Baldwin's girl....

*Gay Beer: Disgusting..Forward through this one..Sandler and Farley play roomates who drink a brand of beer that magically turns their house into a raving party of Calander-Hunk men,waiting to "party" with them. Not suitable even for adult eyes....

*Opera Man: I love this one! Operaman, who throughout the video comes and makes an appearance, is a long- haired, Italian opera singer, who sings out the news that he is reporting...It is clever, cute, and shows Adam at his creative height......(Careful..You might not be able to get his tunes out of your head!)

*Canteen Boy: Don't be fooled by the cute comedians in Boy Scout hats...Sandler, Baldwin, Spade and Farley are camped around a campfire. Sandler plays "Canteen Boy" a strange, eccentric, naive scout who always wears a canteen around his neck. The other scouts head off to bed, and Baldwin,the leader, stays behind with Sandler, and tries to seduce him. They are both brilliant in the performance, but if you can not stomach outrageous humor, you might not want to watch this one...

*The Hanakkah Song: Sandler,who is Jewish,totes his guitar in for this one. Feeling bad about having no songs for his religious holiday,as a child,he sings a song for other Jewish kids instead of "Jolly Ol' St Nicholas"... It is a hilarious jingle, that mentions all the benefits of being Jewish and having "8 Crazy nights" (instead of 1 day of presents) Sandler names celebrities who are Jewish, stating that "O.J...Not a Jew..." is one of the reasons to be proud! The way he twist words to rhyme in his creative way,is genius. This song is one of the reasons I love him!

*The Denise Show: Adam plays "Brian", a young man who is obsessed with his old girlfriend, "Denise" (Shannon Dohtery)who recently broke up with him. He is the host of a talk show, where people call in to say that they have seen Denise, how she is doing,ect..Sandler calls and hands up on her, her new boyfriend,talks about the "Good ol days" when Denise loved him. Brian's father calls him up to tell him to stop embarassing the family,and Sandler goes ballistic with his deep, loud voice, telling his dad to "Butt out-you dont understand!". Denise shows up on the set to yell at Brian, and all Sandler can do is say "Will you go back out with me??"..I think we have all had a relationship like this one. It is very funny, and you cant help but feel bad for him.

*The Newlyweds: Kirstie Alley, along with another comedian who plays her husband, are in France, on their 2nd honeymoon. The hotel bellhop, played by Schnieder, says that in France, it is customary to kiss and romance the female visitors, to make them feel welcome. Schnieder, along with Farley, Spade, Meyers and Sandler, grope,molest and hop into bed with Alley, who laughs and says "These guys are so sweet to welcome me like this". Her husband, fuming,ready to kick some bellhop butt, eventually says "What the heck"...This is also r-rated material,with reference to sexual positions, multiple partners, Sandler in a thong, so it is not recommended by me. You should also fast-forward through this one, if blessed with a weak stomach and low-tolerance for sexual humor, the way I am.

*Cajon Man: Sandler, in the newsroom, plays a Columbian man who speaks in rhymes, with a one-word vocabulary to every question he is asked ("How do you say so thin?"...Cajon Man: "Metabolism"..."Whats the matter Cajon Man?" Cajon Man: "Depression"...and so on) It is cute,Sandler has a great accent,great facial expressions,the whole package)

*Zagats Dinner Guide: Sandler and Farley play an old couple celebrating their 35th anniversery. Farley, the wife, loves to read in detail, Zagats resteraunt guide, outloud, word for word. Sandler, the husband,hates his wife, and keeps telling her to shut her mouth already. He tears up the dinner guide, so she pulls out the tv guide, and starts reading it out load, word for word...Its really funny, with an Archie Bunker feel to it.....

*Lunch Lady Song: Sandler brings in his trusty guitar again, to bring alive a jingle about the Lunch Lady (Chris Farley)who doesnt get the regcognition she deserves. While he sings, and Farley dances,t he whole staff, dressed as lunch items like "Sloppy Joe" dance around Farley. Real cute,,,

*Gimme That Candy!!: Sandler, in the news room, is there with Norm McDonald, to give kids/adults halloween costume ideas if they have nothing to wear...He uses items like newspapers,(Hey ..Im crazy Newspaper face..Gimme that Candy!)shoes (Hey,Im crazy shoe-hand-man..Gimme Some Candy!)It is kind of silly, but funny,and Sandler uses his famous voices to entertain you......

*Grandma: This is the one that I actualy cried out tears, it was so comical!! Sandler plays grandmother to Michael Keaton and Chris Farley. Grandma prefers Keaton, who brings home a girl he is trying to get lucky with, and asks his little brother, Farley to take care of Grandma's needs, while he is in the back room. Farley, who bends over backwards to make everything perfect for his radical grandma who drives him crazy, zany misunderstandings cause grandma to continuously yell at Farley, causing Keaton to be interupted, and angry that Farley cant do one simple thing. Keaton beats up Farley who didnt ask for any of this. It is so funny,you wont be able to stand it.

*Iraqi Pete: A leftover from the Gulf War, Sandler plays an Irian War Guy who hates Americans. Kind of annoying,I didnt find any humor in this one.

*Herlihy Homesitting Service: This one is hilarious. It is an advertisement, with Sandler in a blonde wig, playing a clingy housesitter looking for a home to watch. He begs and pleads with the viewers, in a puppy dog way "Please let me water your plants. Please? I wont hurt them. Please?" Chris Farley, plays his boss, who screams "For God Sakes! Let the Boy water your plants!" It goes back and forth,and has a sexual undertone to it, even though it seems harmless. Adam is sweet and hilarious.

Final Thought:

If you are a Sandler fan, I would stay with Waterboy or The Wedding Singer. This show might turn you into a non-fan if it offends you too deeply.
