Great camera, but I'd love even longer battery life
Pros:
Fast startup. Great video, great compression.
Cons:
May not be as waterproof as I need. LCD display is more than I need.
The Bottom Line:
So far a good buy, but the jury's still out on whether it'll be waterproof enough to last the year.

I'm pleased with the video quality, it looks great at the highest quality setting. I use the camera (mounted on a kayak front deck) to record surf sessions, and there are 2 features that I'd really like to see added for this mode of operation.
1) Ability to disable the flip-out display in order to extend battery life. I have the display at min brightness, but its still on, and while I get almost exactly one hour on a fresh battery at 40C. One hour is good, but I'm greedy for more. In the meantime, I'll just stock up on batteries.
2) Ability to continue recording with the display closed. This would be handy because there is a risk of damage with the shell fully open (a paddle, or a wave could wack it). I do notice that the camera still records if the panel is closed with the LCD display facing outwards, but the MIC is on the other side, so picks up a lot of noise from the camera motor.
If only there was a ruggedized version with these features, a really solid mount, tighter waterproof seals, and a really solid rubberized outer shell, I'd pay twice as much for it.
