Author's Review
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio is a wonderfully refreshing wine that's perfect served chilled on a hot summer day and just as good served room temperature with spaghetti on a cool fall evening.
The wine is a pale yellow color. It has 12% alcohol by volume, which is fairly standard for table wines. The aroma is slightly sweet and quite pleasant. The wine itself is slightly dry, but not overly so. It's has a very mild taste, reminiscent of fresh fall apples. It feels very smooth on the tongue with no bitterness or sour notes.
Traditionally, Pinot Grigio pairs well with white meats and fish, but I think Santa Margherita goes well with nearly anything. For example, it pairs well with risotto, pasta in Alfredo sauce, lobster, and as mentioned previously - even a hardy spaghetti with sausage.
I do not, however, recommend it with dessert-especially chocolate. The slight acidity of the Pinot Grigio does not pair well with sweets, in my opinion. A red wine is much more suited to that pairing.
The price in my area usually runs around $20, but you can often find this wine on special for less. It is also a very popular wine on restaurant menus and always a safe bet.
If you looking for a crisp, refreshing, tasty wine - go ahead and give this Pinot Grigio a try. You won't be disappointed!
