Sanford Highlight Pens - Better Ink, Barrels and Stamina

I love Sanford Liquid Highlight Pens. I teach and use highlight pens all the time and have for about 12 years now. This brand/style is my favorite for several reasons.

The thing I love most about the Sanford Liquid Accent pens is the ink. They bill this as fluorescent. I’d say most highlighter pens basically fall in that category. The look of this ink is thinner – meaning it does not blot out text. But, it stands out. If you tag lines in a text or on copy paper, then it definitely “pops” when using the Stanford. It also lasts. Some highlight inks fade with time. This ink looks great even if you put books or papers away in storage for a while.

Old highlighters were fat - kind of like first grade pencils. I think they’ve basically done away with those, but pens for little kids used to be fat. Older highlighters were all fat models. The Sanford is sized only slightly larger in terms of circumference from ink pens in the standard size. I tend to prefer fatter regular pens, so the Sanford highlighter is right in the size line that I favor.

In the past, highlight inks were hidden by the pen holders. Sanford went with a thinner ink and a clear housing. I can see, at a glance, how much ink I have left. I’m never left literally (not) highlighting and dry.

Though I could not see ink levels in older highlight pens, it did seem that those tended to dry out over time. That doesn’t seem to be an issue with the Sanford Liquid Highlight pens. I use highlighters up pretty fast, so the Sanfords might dry out over time (if not used as much). I’ve never seen any indication of that, and I’m sure that some of my highlighters get rotated in the purse or other places and do not get regular usage. The Sanford highlighters always are good to go.

I’ve always liked highlight pens. I used them all through school and then on the job. It’s nice to be able to tag items and not have to read back through everything. I was happy with the old highlight pens, but I do enjoy the new Sanford highlight pens even more. The ink is the main selling point in my book (yes –literally), but I also like the size, the clear barrel and the fact that they aren’t bad about drying out.
