Very Nice Player Even Nicer Pricetag

I had gone about a year and a half without an mp3 player so when I got the urge to buy one yet again I was surprised at the large variety available. I as always did my research but finally bought the sansa clip mainly because of the price tag ($35) and the built in clip. So far I have not at all been disappointed though in the players performance.

My last player was a Zen Micro so I was amazed at how small the sansa clip is. About the size of a small zippo lighter and weighing in at only an ounce it feels even smaller than it is. I thought at first that I would lose the player within an hour of walking due to the size but the clip does its' job incredibly well. I also thought I would be irritated at how small it is but the buttons are well laid out with a center circle of buttons on the face to control the main menu the song selection and the play/pause. I'm happy with the power switch/lock function on the left hand side of the player as well but the ear phone jack on the left hand side could have been a little better placed since it does tend to get in the way of the volume controls directly below it.

The player's screen is very small but again surprisingly the size doesn't seem to bother me much as it is bright enough to be easily read. I also like the way the control circle lights up blue when a button is pressed, it's useful so as to see the buttons but looks nice doing it too.

Battery life seems to be about on target for what Sandisk says (15 hours) but it's hard for me to tell since days and days will go by between uses for me. I can say that I've owned the player since the beginning of the year and I've only charged it 3 times, so it keeps a charge between uses very well.

One of the things I kept coming across when briefly researching players was the high level of sound quality of the sansa. I'm no audiophile but the sound does sound beautifully clear. I'm sure it would be even better with decent headphones. As for the headphones they are average. Nothing special but no worse than others I've used in the past.

As far as connectivity, I have had no problems with connecting the player to my computer and transferring music. The player plays mp3, wav and wma. The player also sports an FM tuner and recorder but I have to confess I haven't used it even once.

I also thankfully can't speak for the durability of the player yet other than just my observations. I haven't dropped it but it seems pretty well put together and at only one ounce I can't imagine it falling too hard (who knows it might just float to the ground).

Overall I have been very impressed with the sansa clip. Other than the aforementioned issue with the headphone jack being awkwardly placed it is an extremely comfortable to use player with great sound with an even more comfortable pricetag. I recommend it.
